Support of oncology patients undergoing active treatment

In my over twenty-year experience as the primary care physician of many oncology patients I found so much focus is (appropriately) given to treatment that most all other aspects of a patient’s health are abandoned while they undergo treatment.  Is this really an isolated process operating in a vacuum?  While your oncologist is without question the lead in your treatment we will work with you to round out the picture by considering (among many other factors which will be identified as we work together) the following.

Support of oncology patients who have completed their treatment

It has also been my clinical experience (along with other experiences that I’m not going to get into) that patients who have completed treatment are often told to return to living their lives (seemingly as if nothing ever happened) while either not recognizing and / or not acknowledging factors in that life that may have contributed to the very health crisis you just endured.  There is also the fact that, as much as we don’t want to admit it, cancer changes you as a person…physically, emotionally and spiritually.  In addition to all the items listed in the active treatment section we will:

Difficult to manage chronic infections

When extensive (and complete) conventional medicine workups leave us with no answers or options we need to step out into the functional and integrative medicine space to keep searching for answers and additional options.  It is simply not possible to provide that level or breadth of care in 15, 30, 45 or even hour-long office visits.  I found it impossible, even with my extensive training beyond conventional medicine, to help patients in a conventional medical practice setting that require functional and integrative medical care.  This is precisely why we formed Three Peaks Health – to have a practice where we can provide that level of care and access to those who need it.  Chronic conditions typically falling into this category include but are certainly not limited to:

Please note we do not treat acute infections.  If you have an acute infection please contact your primary care physician or infectious disease specialist and allow them to complete the acute-phase evaluation and treatment of your condition before contacting us for assistance once they have completed their work.

Holisitc wellness

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”
– Benjamin Franklin

Honestly I have not a single word to add to that.  Throughout my career in medicine I have always been an advocate of and believer in prevention – because it works.  I know it to work and so do my patients.  If you are someone who wants to review your overall wellness beyond the annual physical exam your primary care physician provides I would be delighted to work with you.  No two people are alike in many, many ways and it is important to take the time to review the factors specific to you, your life and your lifestyle to see if there are areas that need attention and optimization.
